Back Home Project collaboration with
Lek Jeyifous and Pablo Whaley.

I joined forces with fellow artists and friends, Lek and Pablo to create an experimental sound and video animation as an extension to a painting series I was working on called "Back Home". I was having my first Chicago solo exhibition after having lived in California for a number of years. "Home" had become virtual and ephemeral in many ways, and I wanted to use a medium and a collaborative process that would highlight that my layered definition of home...Chicago, Oakland, Ethiopia, the Internet, childhood memories...making visual and audio sketches from three remote locations, and then mixing them together to create an unexpected result.
